My name is Jacqueline Doran, many of you at the school gates know me as ‘Jaks’. I am your Parent Governor and vice chair of the Local Governance Committee for both Monkwick Infant and Junior schools and have been a Governor since 2014. I am a civil servant and Mum of two school age children who have each attended the Monkwick schools.Carol Carlsson Browne - Local Governor (Trustee)
I qualified as a solicitor in 1982 and practiced for almost 12 years, when I retrained as a teacher. I taught in a number of schools in North Essex, worked as a literacy consultant for Essex County Council and retired three years ago after six years as a head teacher in Clacton. I retain a keen interest in education. Since I retired, I have completed an MA in Children’s Literature and I am involved with initial teacher training with North Essex Teaching Training (NETT) I was a school governor from 1990 – 1998 and again from 2008 onwards. I am currently a trustee of two Multi-Academy Trusts. I have undertaken much training, including more recently the Certificate in School Governance Studies, Safer Recruitment in Education, Level 3 Safeguarding and Leading Governance. I believe wholeheartedly in the state-funded school system from which my children benefited, and now my grandchildren. I want all children to have the best possible education, while at the same time acknowledging that schools play an important role in children’s health and well being.Dave Harris - Local Governor
My name is Dave Harris, lots of you in our catchment area know me as the local Councillor representing our area. I am also your community governor for both Monkwick Infant and Monkwick Junior schools and have been a governor for some years. As a retired Rail Engineering Worker, my wife, children and grandchildren all attend or have attended the two Monkwick schools and each has enjoyed their time at the schools. I am keen to promote the community and that includes the school community. I believe that what you put in to the community you get back ten fold and that also includes the school community. The school's Local Governance Committee works hard to ensure that we not only get the best from our school age children but also make their time an enjoyable experience.
Helen Hobbs - Local Governor (Staff)
In my professional life, I am the HR Manager for The Sigma Trust and HR is the area of expertise I bring to the Local Governance Committee. I live with my husband and daughter, of primary school age. As well as the HR perspective, I can appreciate from a parent perspective, how we might want our children’s schools to perform. I am passionate about the vision and values of The Sigma Trust, which the Monkwick schools belongs to, and believe that every child should be able to access an education that builds the skills necessary for them to face the future with confidence. I am delighted to have the opportunity to take up a Governance Committee role, to positively impact the education of all children who attend the Monkwick schools.Russell Stubbs - Local Governor (Parent - MJS)
I am a parent of two children who are attending, or have been attending, the Monkwick Infant and Junior schools. My wife is also a member of staff at the Infant School. We have been local to the area for over 20 years and have been involved in many aspects of activities around the schools so I have had a wide experience of the responsibilities and issues that each school deals with daily. I aim to make a useful contribution to the Local Governance Committee and provide a source of ideas and opinions that will help the school staff to continue with the great work that they already perform.
